Evernote

Evernote is one of those tools that it might take a while to completely figure out. I know many educators who say if they could only keep one web tool to use it would be Evernote. What are your thoughts about this tool now that you have taken some time to explore it? How could you use it to get organized?

  1. I can see where Evernote would be helpful in storing my class notes and video clips to use for class instruction. Using Evernote for student portfolios would be a real space saver in our school, as we now have a room full of notebooks for student portfolios in the HS. Evernote would be helpful to students in keeping everything in one place. I will need time to really how to use all the different things Evernote can do for me.

  2. I think I signed up for evernote a few years ago but never really used it. It also didn't have the new options so maybe I will find it more useful. Once again, not great for my students since you are supposed to be 13 but I can see it being a great option for older students esp. with the note sharing (what a way to study for exams!)I am going to try to use it more for meetings ( am as forever trying to find the little notes I jotted down at staff meetings or having someone pop their head in the door).

  3. I have never done anything with Evernote because to be honest, I didn't know what it was and never to the time to find out. After reading through a couple of the articles that were linked, I think that I will definitely be spending more time here.

I am very intrigued with the idea of taking notes and organizing a research paper in Evernote. I totally remember finding a quote and then when I get ready to use it, spend the next hour looking for where I found it. I have already downloaded the Evernote Web Clipper from the "Trunk" so that I can see if this is something I should share with our students.

I'm not sure how far into this Evernote I am ready to go into...it seems like you could totally immerse yourself into an Evernote world. I have been looking, however, for a place to store the recipes that I find from the internet that I use all the time, and I am interested to see how Evernote and the web clipper will work for this. I'm excited to try it out!

I use the notes on my iphone for technology needs at school. For example, I have all the printer IP addresses listed there or passwords that I am always forgetting. I would be interested to know if there are benefits to using Evernote for this instead. I'm interested in hearing from others who may be using Evernote already to see how they utilize it.

  4. I am notorious for coming across a recipe on my phone. Getting the ingredients and then not being able to find the recipe when its time to cook it. Or on a good day I don't lose track of the recipe until after I cook it once. This could solve that problem. I love the app you can do voice or video notes. I have also been out shopping and run across a sale and can't remember if he wear a 10 or 10 1/2. It could also be used to keep track of the fleeting ideas that come about the next months projects but aren't a priority and then are gone once it's time to use it! I see it as a great tool for me to use as a professional. Anyone have any ideas of how they would use it with kindergartners?

  5. I think this will be a great tool for me to keep track of a lot of the information I run across in my daily work around school, as well as in the community.

Often times I hear about something I want to go back to look at when I get home, or back to the office, and if I don't have paper with me, I often forget it. I put Evernote on my phone, and have been creating notes about this class, about my upcoming trip, and a grocery list.

I think I will use it more for personal than school.

  6. This is one tool I plan on using more. I have notes in several different places, recipes stuck everywhere and a whole file full of papers with ideas I want to try. Can I find the right notebook, recipe or activity when I need it?

Not only will I make life easier for me but I save a lot of trees.

  7. I like the concept that you can save your ideas, things to remember, and notes in one area and like anything else it's access to the cloud. I have seen the image tool used before with business cards kind of cool. I think this would be a great tool for students to stay organized and responsible. I think if technology is involved they would probably use it over pen and paper. So many tools and devices which one do you choose?

  8. I think that Evernote has a lot of potential. I love the story of the high school senior, Ryan Kessler, who significantly raised his GPA and how he kept track of notes, papers, etc. I can see how Evernote would help a lot of the students who have trouble organizing and those that are organized would be able to take advantage of Evernote and be better off. It was very easy to use. I typed a few lines and dragged and dropped three pictures with no problems. I have a hand writing app on my iPod. I love it to keep track of lots of things, but mostly shopping lists -- things I want for school, the weekly shopping list and the Scottsbluff shopping list. I can organize the lists by colors and create lists within lists. I see Evernote doing this same thing and so much more.
